Why Should You Join DISCnet?

As a network of leading Universities we have a presence across the South East of England and London, giving us diverse connections with industry, government and non-governmental organisations.

We are part of SEPnet, a network of Physics departments across the South East of England.  Within SEPnet is GRADnet, a long-running successful training programme for physics PhD students. You will benefit from this experience through the DISCnet academic and industrial training programme.

We have a very wide range of research projects, globally spanning and across all major areas of astronomical and particle physics research fields but also in other areas such as planetary science, nuclear physics, nanomaterials and quantum technologies.

DISCnet core students also benefit from six months of industrial placements, in addition to their 3.5 years of studentship funding, to work on data-intensive projects in non-academic settings, separate from their PhD research.

We have opportunities for students now, so please apply here, before deadlines in February 2018
